Timothy W. Sargent, Esq.

Timothy hails from Morrisville, Vermont where he was born and raised.  He attended Peoples Academy and then ventured off to Bates College in Lewiston, Maine for his undergraduate degree.  His love of Vermont and environmental/land use issues is why he ultimately returned to Vermont and attended Vermont Law School (graduated in 2003).  Since November 2004, Timothy has practiced with his father (Richard Sargent) at Sargent Law Office.  Areas of law Timothy focuses on include transactional issues, commercial law, environmental law & consultation, contract law, probate matters, land use, municipal law, general litigation, and business development.  When not practicing law, Timothy can be found either on the golf course, hiking a nearby peak or on the ski slopes.  Timothy is also an active member in the community and is part of the Morrisville Rotary Club, a Morrisville Water & Light trustee, a board member of the Ron Terrill Scholarship Fund and an avid fan of Peoples Academy athletics.  He has also taught business law at Johnson State College, is a member of the Vermont and Lamoille County Bar Associations, and a member of the Sterling Chapter of the Green Mountain Club.  By retaining Timothy’s services you will hire someone who will not only work diligently on your behalf but who also retains an expansive knowledge of the law/environmental issues.  Moreover, he has a deep understanding of the people and landscape that define the fabric of our wonderful community.

Richard C. Sargent, Esq.

Richard was born and raised in Morristown where he has been practicing law since 1969.  Richard is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and he received his J.D. from The George Washington University in 1968.  In his more than 40 years of practicing law, he has gained vast experience in transactional and general practice law including a particular focus in the areas of real estate, estate planning, probate, municipal, banking/financial institutions, general business, creditor rights/collections, landlord/tenant, and general litigation.  Richard’s commitment to his community is reflected by the long list of community organizations he has devoted countless hours of his time to including serving as Village Trustee, treasurer of the Morristown Historical Society, member of the Alexander Hamilton Copley Trust Fund Board, member of the Copley-Munson Fund Board, member of the Morristown Rescue Squad, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Union Bank.       

Kathy Simpson

Since joining the firm in 1986, Kathy has gained broad experience in all aspects of case management, law practice management, and the mountains of administrative tasks associated with the practice of law.  In other words, Kathy is the firm’s “go-to” person for all administrative matters and otherwise making sure the practice is running smoothly.  Kathy is a graduate of Champlain College with an Associates Degree in Business Management.  The legal profession has always been a part of her life as her father and one of her brothers were both attorneys.  Prior to joining the firm her experience was mainly in the educational field where she worked for the Associate Dean of a College and for the Guidance Department of a high school.    

Amy Heinen

For ten years prior to joining Sargent Law Office, Amy worked in the transitional countries of Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union as a business consultant.  Her focus was on strengthening small and medium business’ operations, increasing access to credit, business association development, and improving the business environment.  She worked with parliamentary and ministry officials to ensure passage of relevant banking, land titling, and leasing legislation, as well as other legislation affecting small businesses.  She also coordinated extensively with municipal governments on rural small business development activities.  In 2009, Amy began working with Sargent Law Office as a Legal Assistant.
